This is Vivek, I'm here to explore the recipe of Ginger chicken.Ginger chicken is of two types, DRY type and WET type.
Let's go for the process of WET Ginger chicken
To prepare the ginger chicken all you need is listed below.
WET GINGER CHICKEN
For marination:
- Ginger paste- 1 ½ table spoon
- black pepper powder- 1 tea spoon
- Salt- 1 tea spoon (or as per taste)
- Vinegar- 1 table spoon
- light soya sauce- 2 tea spoons (or) dark soya sauce-1tea spoon
- Finely chopped ginger- 1 table spoon
- Finely chopped ginger – 1 to 2 tbsp
- Ginger juliennes(thin slices) – 1 tbsp (optional)
- Onions(finely chopped)-3 cups
- Spices – 1 tea spoon (each of turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder, 2 tea spoon coriander powder)
- Coriander leaves/cilantro to garnish
- Honey/sugar (optional) – 1 tbsp;
- Vinegar/lime juice – 1 tbsp (or as per taste);
- Cooking oil – 3 to 4 table spoon
Process of marination:
To prepare the Ginger chicken, first you have to marinate the chicken. For marination add 1tb.sp. of garlic paste, 1 ½ tb.sp. of ginger paste, 1tb.sp. of black pepper powder, 1 t.sp. of salt, 1tb.sp. of vinegar and 2 t.sp. of light soya sauce. The flavor of soya sauce very well with ginger paste. Mix all the ingredients well. Now let the chicken marinate for 20 minutes.
Process of cooking:
- Now put a pan on stove and pour 4tb.sp. of oil in it.
- While the oil is heating up, add finely chopped ginger in it.
- Let oil will be heat up along with ginger, Oil infused with the flavor of ginger.
- When oil heats up, add finely chopped onions, and fry them until golden brown.
- That gives nice caramel flavor to the recipe.
- Now add the marinated chicken and spread in to the pan.
- Then cook the chicken for 5 minutes in medium to high flame.
- Now give it a flip.
- When the water is evaporated from the chicken, start adding the spices, which are listed above.
- Now reduce the heat to it's minimum, till the chicken mixes with the spices.
- Now add a cup of water and cover the pan with lid and cook the chicken for 15 minutes at medium to high flame.
- Now stir the recipe well, it's semi gravy recipe.
- Now add 1tb.sp. of honey to it.
- And now add some optional ingredients like sliced ginger and vinegar for extra tangyness.
- Finally add some coriander leaves.
- Now this recipe is ready to serve.
This ginger chicken is goes very well with Roti, Bread, Rice, Fried rice.
